What to know

Critics consensus

This Imperial burns evenly and draws openly, stacking leather and dark-roast coffee with cocoa, a hint of vanilla, and a sweet-wood undertone that threads through the whole smoke. — Cigar Insider (Apr 2017).

Warm wood and caramel lead, with toffee sweetness filling out the middle before the Imperial settles into a toasty, nutty finish. The profile stays mellow and cohesive rather than sharp-edged.

Cocoa dominates the Imperial here, almost like biting into dark baking chocolate, while white pepper prickles underneath so the richness never sits flat.

The Imperial reads as a cocoa-forward smoke: deep bean and chocolate notes anchor the profile, with toasted bread warmth and white pepper lifting the edges.

We did a side-by-side with the Imperial Maduro at the lounge. The natural is more refined and a touch grassier; the maduro is bolder and sweeter. Both are excellent - pick the one that matches your mood.

Natural is a different animal than the maduro. Brighter, more grassy, with a long cedar finish. Quality is exactly what you'd expect from Padron - even burn, perfect draw - but the maduro is the one I keep coming back to.

Spent an evening with the Padron 1964 Anniversary Imperial Natural. Draw and burn were both clean; flavor was in the ballpark of what the critic write-ups promised.
