Privada Storytelling
Born in Erik Espinosa’s La Zona factory in Estelí, this Nicaraguan puro has now been resting for four full years. Built from all-Nicaraguan components sourced from Jalapa, Condega, and Estelí, the cigar opens with milk chocolate, mint, and warming spice before slipping into espresso, leather, and a champagne-dry earthiness that transforms into smoke. As the burn deepens, charred wood, mushroom earth, and bittersweet dark chocolate unfurl, all chased by retrohale bursts of cocoa and pepper. It is the brute force of Nicaragua delivered with a brooding October mood — the darker, wilder cousin to its sweeter cereal brethren.
Flavor Journey
First Third: Milk chocolate body, barnyard earth, creamy nut spread. Cool mint and warming spice on the foot. Cold draw of wood, leather, espresso, and earthy dryness. Retrohale delivers sweet cocoa with subtle pepper.
Second Third: Espresso and dark chocolate intensify, bold woodiness rises with a charred edge. Retrohale becomes earthy cocoa and spice with lingering leather.
Final Third: Bitter leather, earth, and charred wood dominate. Dark chocolate takes over as the signature note. Retrohale brings bold earth and espresso with a dry cocoa finish.
Why It Belongs in Privada
La Zona aged stock is already rare, but a four-year-old Nicaraguan puro with this level of depth is something else entirely. It hits with attitude, richness, and mood — perfect for collectors who crave the stronger, more primal side of Nicaragua.
