Flavor Notes: Cocoa, espresso, earth, toasted wood, black pepper, dark fruit sweetness, and a lingering minerality with creamy smoke Pairing Notes: Espresso with raw sugar, Mexican hot chocolate, rye whiskey, spiced rum, chocolate stout, mole sauce, churros with cinnamon sugar, caramel flan Manufacturer: Espinosa Cigars (La Zona Factory, Nicaragua) Privada Storytelling Tim Wong is a name you don’t hear often outside the West Coast cigar scene, but for those who know him, he represents passion, perseverance, and authenticity. A California sales rep who dreamed of creating his own cigar brand, Wong teamed up with Erik Espinosa to launch Pier 28 —a nod to San Francisco’s iconic waterfront. While Pier 28 has grown into a cult favorite in California, it has remained largely a secret to the rest of the cigar world. This cigar, however, changes everything. The Pier 28 Maduro Rabito Box-Pressed was created exclusively for Privada Cigar Club and then aged for more than six years , transforming into a luxurious and rare smoking experience. Wrapped in a dark, toothy Mexican San Andrés leaf, this Rabito-size vitola combines old-world craftsmanship with the bold spirit of California’s underground cigar culture. It’s a cigar born of dreamers and doers—a reminder that sometimes the greatest treasures remain hidden until Privada brings them to light. Flavor Journey First Third: Cocoa and espresso coat the palate, balanced by earthy minerals and toasted wood. A touch of black pepper energizes the retrohale. Second Third: The cigar develops a sweet complexity—dark fruit notes like raisin and fig blend with cedar, earth, and creamy smoke. A subtle mineral edge adds structure. Final Third: The profile darkens with espresso, cocoa, charred oak, and a peppery-sweet finish. Hints of molasses and chocolate linger as the cigar closes with balance and finesse. Why It Belongs in Privada This release is more than a cigar—it’s a story of persistence and a Privada-exclusive discovery. Tim Wong’s dream could have remained a regional secret, but through Privada’s relentless mission to uncover hidden gems, the Pier 28 Maduro has found its way into the hands of the most discerning collectors. Six years of Privada-controlled aging only heightens its uniqueness, turning this boutique rarity into a smoke you simply can’t find anywhere else.

Excellent leaf placement in this spicy little gem. As always, Espinosa delivers with that infamous spicy kick. But it’s hella complex! Starts off with semi sweet chocolate notes, to creamy cedar, back to dark chocolate and earth. I recommend fo sho!

Ok this cigar it's very deceiving because two things can be true about somethings and this is it. This cigar smokes like a giant ring hair cigar, meaning you will need to double draw on it or it will go out. It also will hit you with straight bitter minerals if you don't. However once you doble up the draw you'll enjoy a extremely smooth flavor bomb of a cigar. One thing they didn't mention in the description of this cigar is the sweetness you get from the retro-hale. The Pier 28 is a good cigar but you must smoke it as a giant ring gage or you will be disappointed. #BlackGentlemensCulture
